In December, we organized two full-day workshops for deaf and hard-of-hearing youth in Croatia, which drew many participants. The workshops were led by Karla Čurin, a young deaf entrepreneur who has been running her own business, “Qurin,” for two years. Her experience as a deaf entrepreneur made her the perfect choice to guide these workshops, which aimed to build the employment and entrepreneurial skills of deaf and hard-of-hearing youth.
Over two days, participants learned the basics of business and financial planning as their first step into entrepreneurship. They also explored the importance of team building and inclusive design, focusing on how they, as deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, can be creators, not just users.
The workshops were highly interactive, with activities like role-playing, quizzes, simulations, group discussions, and collaborative tasks. They ended on a fun note with a popular escape room game. Through these activities, participants gained valuable knowledge and skills to help them succeed in employment and entrepreneurship.
Participants were thankful for the opportunity to take part and showed great interest in attending similar workshops in the future.
